Walter Adolf Jöhr Lecture
In memory of its founder and former managing director Walter Adolf Jöhr, our institute organizes the Walter Adolf Jöhr Lectures in collaboration with the University of St. Gallen since 1988.
Walter Adolf Jöhr (1919-1987) was a professor of economics at the University of St. Gallen between 1937 and 1987. He was the managing director of the Institute of Economics from 1952 to 1977. Between 1957 and 1963 he also was the director of the University of St. Gallen. His visionary decisions continue to contribute to our university's reputation, and still show in the artwork and architecture of today's campus.
The Institute of Economics succeeded in attracting many of the best economists and social scientists from Austria, Germany and Switzerland for this event. Most of the lectures were given in German, however.
